Challenge Smackdown North Europe
 Round 1 - Andy
DM2 - Claustrophobolis (The Viper Squad's choice)

ReportWoohoo playofftime! The undefeated winner of group B, The Viper Squad, meet 4th from group D, Hellfire Clan. The Swedish-Finnish dualism adds even more tense to this game. First tense came into the game when we searched for servers. Hellfire didn't want to play on finnish sauna servers (Edome) since TVS' pings were too good. Would have been ping 25 vs 42 at average. So we moved on to denmark, get2net to be exact it. Pings were very fair, almost impossible to be fairer, solid 38-45 at average for both sides. However, get2net has this gay habit to give lots of PL spikes randomly during the game, to all players and specs. There were simply too many players/specs/observers on that pc :( Anyway, that only affected the game a few times and the fact that everyone suffered from it at least made it equal again.
Dm2 would be TVS' choice, HF picked e1m2. Finally, the deciding game would be played in the Haunted halls if that was needed.
The game kicked off on dm2. TVS got the low rl, HF got away with Quad+High RL. HF managed to secure low tele using that RL and after 1 minute they had a lead by a very small margin of 4 frags. HF also got the second quad, but TVS didn't sleep and kitted their players up at low and were now able to attack. After 2 1/2 minutes TVS were able to draw and take the lead right after. All looked very good from TVS' POV. The important locations were secure within a few seconds. The score was at 42-28 and it was time for the 3rd quad. TVS yet again would fail to get it, HF's Brain took it and his Quad RL was very useful. For a short time it seemed as if HF got back into the game and could take over control, but as i said it only looked as if. Instead, TVS finally got the 4th quad and could get the control under their control. From that point on, TVS was the only team getting lots of frags, the margin became bigger and bigger. HF did manage to get back into the game but it was way too late. TVS wasn't in any danger when HF started to run Quads again. The final score was 287 to 72 in TVS' favour, in a game which seemed to become really close for about 3 minutes, but then without any special changes during the game.

ReportThis map ought to be interesting. Although TVS won quite comfortably it shouldn't mean HF are an easy opponent on e1m2. In fact, they're not. They won nearly all their games on this map, only losing to TOT and OMG on e1m2 (and it wasn't this team against OMG). Having beaten Euthanasia in the groupgame on this map should have been warning enough to TVS. HF got the first Quad, TVS' Ihminen spawned at RL. The Finns seemed to be slightly in advantage of the map during the first 3 minutes, after a very good quad run by Ihminen. After 3 minutes TVS lead by 12 which shouldn't last forever though. HF scored more and more frags and the console came closer and closer to saying "The game is a draw". After 5 minutes exactly this happened. HF scored the frag which drew and then took the lead themselves. From that point on, HF had more control of the map for the next minutes. They got a few RLs to YA, and the quadman usually wore pink trousers too. They managed to work out a solid lead by 20 frags. The game continued very chaotically, the control always kept changing and it was a very close game. However, mr scoreboard was on HF's side, there still was this 20 frag lead they achieved earlier in the game...and yes, they managed to keep it until the end. The game has been really close all of the time but TVS needed more than just keeping that score. HF once again showed that they're able to beat anyone on their best map, the final score was 203 to 172 to the Swedes.

Round 3 - Andy
E3M7 - The Haunted Halls (random map)

Report
After the e1m2 finished a 3rd map had to be decided. Usually this is done before the actual game starts, but the gay admin somehow forgot to do that, i will kill him if i find out who adminned. Well, he asked both teams to either agree on a map or get a random one. Specs and observers had hoped for a dm3 game now because everyone loves dm3, everyone rocks dm3, dm3 is the fairest map to decide games etc bla bla. HF however wanted me to get a random map, and |Peace| wanted it to be e3m7. I can't imagine that's the map HF had hoped for, anyway it was set then. TVS have proven how good they are on that map during the season, i never saw a team actually camping/waiting for ring on this map (many players even tend to forget about ring at all), so it seemed as if they had some tactics too :) On the other side i've never seen HF play this map. After some toiletting, player changes and addition of cheats, the map finally started.
HF got the so important spawn at Pent-RL. The Pent was kind of wasted though, as the player went to Cage (probably hoping to get spawnfrags or something), but Pent area was totally uncovered then. TVS got the other RL at the start. HF got a small lead during the first minutes, which wasn't too surprising as they had the better start. HF did the bad mistake to let RA uncovered and thus giving it to TVS. They used it wisely to kit up with weapons YA/RA and their quad runs damaged HF's defense at Cage very hard. Even that hard that HF's defense couldn't keep it for that long. TVS has always been on the better side, they never really gave away the RA and Pent area. Unfortunately this map soon turned into something similar to the dm2 game. TVS controlled all positions and it was mainly a spawnfest. The final score being 303 to 42 in TVS' favour speaks for itself. Very good game both teams! Good luck in the further competition to TVS and cu next season HF :)
