This match up between OMG from norway and inneR Circle from Hungary was always going to be a "lag-match", simply because of the huge distance between the two nations. However, we were able to find a server in germany where both teams averaged around 65ms, so pings were fair at least. Both these clans are used to playing with pings >42 and spikes so it promised to be an interesting encounter. First map was dm2, RC's choice. They were favourites to win this in my mind having experienced their strength on dm2 first hand in the group stage... they are one of the best clans ive seen at somehow always managing to get quad on dm2. James grabbed the low rl and came round in time to take quad while some sg'ers were fighting over who got to hop up. He cleared out the low rl area and judge secured high rl, but was cessed in the fighting over 2nd quad which milamber eventually got albeit only with boomstick. RC securedthe water/tele area fairly early on, with omg stocking up with 2 rls at ra/mega. Janus was killed trying to regain the map, but Dark stayed back keeping ra/mega under control, which was to prove crucial as time progressed. The server creaked under the strain a few times with pl spikes/locked, and dark/nalle had prolonged lockups also, resulting in the usual "nice server" comments from the scandinavians :). With 5mins gone rc lead by 15 frags, but more importantly, slash has tele locked. With 14 left to play omg try attacking quad from 2*ya, nalle looking in good shape with 200/200/rl:15. Milamber's rl is killed but he does enough damage to weaken Nalle such that judge kills him and takes the quad. All 4 omg are now at low rl, only TCO with an rl. RC doesnt seem able to clear them out with quad however, letting janus and then nalle also pick up ra/rl. Rc continue to control the quad over the next minutes, altho their frag count doesnt accelerate too much. Flicking around the various players i often noticed at least 2 players from each team with rl. Just before the halfway point, TCO takes advantage and owns 3 of RC around the quad area - at last, OMG have the fabled damage artifact in their possession! Only James survived this onslaught with an rl, meanwhile the rest of OMG we're stocking up. Somehow RC still manages to get next quad in the form of judge who clears out nailgun area before boring at tele steps :) The game was swining this way and that for a few minutes, before OMG gains control of tele/quad side for the first time, the only kitted rc players remaining at low/2*ya areas. This was an unusual dm2 game, in that neither side really had total control for more than a minute or so.... until the last 4mins at least. By then OMG managed to take pretty much all positions, with Nalle rampaging round low rl with quad. RC still had a small lead, but at 14 frags far too small to consider hiding. OMG gained 10-15 frags each minute and ended up taking the game 149-115, an interesting game which was still open until the very end. RC had control for at least as long as OMG, but weren't able to take advantage since low rl was never locked down and hence OMG rls kept the pressure on not allowing RC to build rapid frags by spawnfragging. Together with an inspired attack by TCO, this proved their undoing. GG to both teams.

OMG takes pent and 1st rl while RC has to settle for quad/ring. Dark chooses RA as the destination for his rl, but slash steals it and he makes a Slabby by giving judge his weapon at ra spawns while looking for some health before the next RA. Janus and Nalle do well to rush him at sng however and win the rl back for OMG. Meanwhile TCO has used the pent to pickup 2nd rl and things are already looking rosey for OMG. RC do well to attack 2nd quad in numbers tho and judge takes it, albeit for only 1sec :) Rc gets an rl to sng while omg locks down RA, but after some fighting around that area OMG comes out with the packs. RC takes 3rd quad and has some degree of control over the YA side of the map. James gets the next one fairly easily too and the game is still open for either team, although OMG has the crucial RA position locked down pretty good. So next time RC meets a lot more opposition at quad in terms of armoured opponents - OMG look in good shape for the 2nd pent at this stage. James walks into an ambush at RA giving nalle his pack, maybe he would have been better off looking to tool at YA or wait for pent. Now with 3 rls OMG have little trouble getting the pent, they only lead 32-30 at this stage but proceed to pull away. 20 frags in that minute, 13 in the next, and by now OMG are dominating the map totally, running quad and all kitted. At the halfway mark omg have a 75 frag lead and are in total control... until milamber get the pent!! A few forward rjs later and he is at RA, finally RC has it under control. Nalle still has rl at ring though and is able to kill RC players rushing to tool up there, milamber wisely stays up high rather than attacking as OMG still have better weapons overall. Nalle's persistence pays off eventually, his spamming across ring from sng entrance eventually catches milamber out and OMG has RA back. Anyway you know the drill on dm3, the team in control is racking up some frags, different actions but same result. The lead is 138 frags by time 4th pent arrives. RC takes this one also, in spite of omg having a man on the floor and one at window. slash killed TCO at pent, but dark didnt seem to care just idling at window watching bridge/tele exit rather than looking down to see what was happening outside :) Anyway RC at least has a chance to recover some pride in the last minutes, with a quad-pent slash... until he made a rather embarrassing mistake, the "oops, pent just ran out" quad suicide im sure we have all experienced at some point :) With his death RC's last hopes died too and OMG extends their lead till the end, final score 231-59 in their favour. Some nice play by OMG, together with a couple of mistakes by RC resulting in a fairly impressive victory for OMG. One thing i noticed watching nalle's demo was that he had a qizmo observer timing powerups for him, "30sec penta", "10sec quad", "quad 5" etc. Seemed pretty lame to me, anyway you can judge for yourself from the the demo @ ch-tv. OMG progress to the quarterfinals where they meet the winners of the OC-CMF scheduled for tomorrow. On this performance they should at least be able to put up a fight, and i'm sure they'll be glad to get back to "proper ping" :)
