1. Please tell our readers something about your clan and its
members, your history and successes.
Well what can I tell you. tVS was founded in 24th May 1997 although for
some time clan name was Winged Viper Clan which was changed to the Viper
Squad later on. We are propably the oldest active QW-DM clan in Finland
with also most played official games (a little over 200). We have been
active since the beginning and no brakes are planned for the future
either.
Me and my younger brother Ihminen are from the original tVS crew and
this is only clan we have ever been in. Mirage has been with us some
years now and Acid, Edge, Elec and Hib are later additions to the crew.
Acid and Hib played in another great Finnish clan Zetor and Acid also
played in cMF for some time.
Successes? Well someone (let him remain anonymous for now) once said that
tVS is propably the best clan in the world that has never gained any kind
of success. Unfortunately I must agree that he did have a point. But I
guess that just gives us a good excuse to get some in SD2 ;)
2. Does your team currently play in other (online) tournaments?
No. I think Finnish championships for QW-DM is about to start soon though.
3. So far your team is doing very well in SD2. How good are you compared to last season?
Well only 2 games played for now and we were not that happy about how
we performed in those but I guess considering the conditions they were
ok. I think we are better now than in last SD. We have had time to prac
with Acid (who couldn't play for us last time) and Hib who went inactive
during last SD after loosing his connectiong got a brand new ADSL just a
few days ago and has shown such madskillz that we seriously doubt that he
has been practising secretly for some time :)
4. Last season you got knocked out in the semis in a very close game by Euthanasia. Were you very dissappointed and do you think you ever consider to move to Q3 or CS (*yuck*) to earn money by playing?
Yes we were very disappointed naturally. Ever since the beginning we were
certain to be facing FF in the finals, but it didn't happen as everybody
knows
now.
As tVS we will never play anything else but QW-DM. Me and Ihminen
have
never even tried any other FPS games after quake. (Ok, ok some Q2 but that
didn't go on for long and I'm sure that every qw player understands
why...)
Some of our players do play CS in other clans but as long as they want be
in tVS, QW comes first :)
7. Some people say that you can beat anyone on dm2 and also on e3m7 which used to be your homemap for years. On the other hand the same people say that you have weaknesses on dm3. Does TVS really have a weak spot here?
If we ever really had a weak spot in dm3 that isn't the case anymore.
Just recently we have got very positive results in praccys against
other scandinavian top clans and I'm sure we will be able to beat
any clan in dm3 too with some luck and if our connections don't fail
us (which unfortunatly happens way too often). dm3 tp is based more
in communication than tp in other maps and that was our main problem
before we started to use Qizmo voice for mm3 last summer.
8. Are there any clans or players that you respect more than others in smackdown? For what reasons?
I speak only for myself but I must say that rarely I have been as amaized
as when I saw Pietro play for the first time and of course I have to give
credit for FF because they really changed the way QW is played and their
gameplay (at least in the time of SD1) is prolly closest to perfection
so far.
And naturally credit for TOTs too coz as everybody knows, they truly are
the goodest ;)
9. Are there any clans or players that you dislike more than others in smackdown?
Can't think of any and even if I did I wouldn't mention about it here.
10. Do you follow the happenings in the other divisions and if so what do you think about them?
Well every now and then I check what's happening elsewhere but since
there is never any demos or even screenshots of the games in NA
division and no offence towards anyone but I don't find other divisions
extremely interesting, I'm not very active about it.
11. The good, the bad and the ugly about Smackdown2 ?
First of all I think SD2 is looking far better than SD1 so far. Web pages
look
great, the lack of coverage is fixed and overall things seem to flow
much more smooth than last time. Also the idea of qualifiers is working
IMHO.
Bad is the same old song about sucky pings when playing against certain
clans but I guess it's nobody's fault and there's nothing to do about it.
12. Finally, last words?
