We've been tossing around the idea of releasing a CD of Challenge Smackdown 2. The CD would contain
- all the demos of season 2, in a format which is easy to browse,
- the reports with direct links to the demos,
- the websites with the news archive and all aditional pages (in plain HTML),
- highlights of season 1,
- some exclusive stuff (which we're still discussing) like historical admin notes, interviews etc.
The price would be a modest 15 US$, shipping included.
Besides providing the players, the admins and all other QW lovers with an exclusive souvenir, the main goal would be to help cover hosting costs for the league and for Challenge (the demo downloads take up quite a bit of bandwith). All profit would be used for that purpose and that purpose only. If somehow the sales far exceed the wildest dreams, the additional funds will be set aside to be used for a LAN final (but again; it's very unlikely that this would be necessary).
We do need a pretty good idea about how many CD's we would be able to distribute to sort out the logistics and to find out whether its worth to bother with in the first place. Therefore, if you want a CD containing everything there is to know about one of the best QuakeWorld leagues ever (and are willing to help us cover costs in the process), leave a comment.
